Default A Legacy Put to Rest

I'm sure many of you have no idea who I am, and I can't say I know the majority of you. However, I was a member of BC from the very old days and grew up around people such as willwren, Jim, John, Seth, Jason, Gordy, harofreak, Taylor, and I could go on forever. I started with a 1994 Bonneville, so perfectly named the "Red Rocket", which I was proud at a younger age to claim as the only Bonnie with professionally painted racing stripes. I look back now and laugh how crazy some of the things were that I did to that car (ie: nitrous), but it was good a learning experience. Oh BTW for those who always wondered, it was $200 for the stripes.

Then at some point I became a moderator and got serious with a 1998 Bonneville SSEi. This was a pride and joy to work with it'* performance factor. I remember specifically when I put on SLP headers, 1.9 Intense rockers, pushrods, LS6 springs, the day I had the modular pulley system pressed on at Taylor'* in Chicago, and the drive I took to Ohio to have the Intense crew install a brand new LSD. Time went on and I held two Bonneville Club Meets in Rockford, Illinois. Then I disappeared into the world of becoming a serious college student...

The trans had enough and gave out on the way to a final.
A few months later I lost control on an icey right turn and the rear end kissed a telephone pole.
And now, two weeks ago on a snow drifted over embanked *-curve it went airborn, through a sign that chopped clean into the hood, crashed through a wooden fence, jumped off a concrete block, and came to rest at the bottom of a low ditch.

With the undercarriage demolished and the front end beyond repair it was considered totalled. Why the long dramatics? I f*cking loved that car to no end. It was almost an extension of me flying through the country roads of northern Illinois in the summertime with no worries. I feel robbed, yet I have no one to blame but myself.

For now the days of extreme speed and power have come to an end. I have no intension of becoming as serious with engine performance as I did with this car for a long time, at least not until I'm well out of college. Yet not all is sad...

I'm still part of the 3800 community with a white 2001 Impala LS with 86k miles. Its a nice car with some nice features, so I don't feel too big of a loss and the car can take turns on a dime without me fighting for control. The plans are simple:

Keep it going in tip-top shape for years to come.
Clean out the major restrictions, starting with the U-bend and maybe ending with an Intense PCM.
Open up the induction with another of my homemade wonders.
Scare young drivers into believing that its the police following them.
And lastly, attend the next Bonneville Club Meet humanly possible out of sheer love for the community.

Come west, young man. Come west!

Sorry to hear about the final demise, bud. I really am. But that 3800 lives on in your new car. I'm proud to have my hand in your Avatar. Funny you should post it up now. I have one of the broken screws coming out from the inside now. Probably due for another surgery!

Stick with us, Kyle. Good things coming for the L36.

I'm proud to have my hand in your Avatar.
I laughed when I dug up this picture today and somehow I knew you would remember it the instant you saw it.
