A co-worker I know had the same thing happen to him. Pontiac bought his back under the same law. I have heard of this happening quite a bit but only with the GP'*...go figure.

As much fun as it is to laugh at it, we really can't say that GP'* are junk based on this. Pontiac sells a hell of alot more Gran Prix'* than Bonnevilles. So proportionally, there would be a higher number of "lemon" GP'* out there, assuming the same percentage of each model had problems.

We can also give these guys some credit. It might be safe to assume that Pontiac owners are more concerned with their cars daily performance. Therefor, these owners might be more likely to raise a stink if the car had continual problems, where other owners would just complain, but ultimately put up with it (like if they owned a Ford or something)

of course GP'* are sold more than bonnevilles, everybody has one every since the newer ones came out, I couldn't see myself in one because there'* no way to stand out in them or GA'*, and there less expensive than bonnes too, they can be fully loaded and still be cheaper than a Sle or up that may be another reason everybody has them..... oh and I guess the preformance isn't a minus for it'* price also.

Yea...there are more GP'* than Bonnevilles because of the price and they have the same motor. Not trying to start a flame war but that'* my logic that I used when calling it an econo bonneville...for people who usually can't afford the real thing so get something similar.

Kind of like the Bonneville is an econo of some Caddies.

Nah... If I squint and look at our '87-'91 bonnies, I see a BMW, not a caddie.

Ever wondered how many people we could fool by switching our grill out for a BMW-like twin oval type, and swaping out our Bonneville emblems for BMW fare?

I considered it at one time, but it would have been rice. And rice is one of the deadly sins. It would be fun to try, but not worth going to Hell for.

Still, the body shape is there for the old bonnies. I think it would fool people.

Hmm... idea forming on how to increase resale value for old Bonnies...
