I am also wanting to point out that the dealership "let" you drive the car and if you did not "trick" them into believing you were older you are not responsible. Did they require a credit card? Did you sign anything?

I think your mom could have some problems but ultimately they understood your age and unless you broke the law your lack of experience (age) is there responsibility.
Did you sign a waiver?
Don’t talk to them at all until you understand exactly where you stand. Get a copy of all the documents. There is no way of knowing if anything was wrong with the car as well. lol I doubt it but you never know.
Don’t get a lawyer quite yet but you may have to if the dealership try'* to bill your mom. If your mom gave a card number put a hold on the card for now because they will use it.

It happened to me once here at honda..i took a civic out and blew the pulley off the side of the engine, i was only 18 years old at the time, they took a photocopy of my drivers license and 1 month after i recieved a bill in the mail for the repair of the car. I talked to my lawyer about it and he said basically there was nothing I can do about it . reason being . Damaged caused by being neglectfull with property not belonging to his or her persons. I lost the case and ended up paying 950 bucks.

Your age will save you on this one. If you were not informed or involved in any understanding of they’re rules or expectations in written form with the fact? it was an you should be able to walk. If the bill is less than $400.00 pay it and walk it will be cheaper than getting a lawyer.

Don't **** them off they were in the car when you did 130... Just think about that, if they really want to pin it on you, they will. I think your lack of experience on a manual might come into play if it goes to court. But be honest, and quit driving cars like this!

It is fun to "try out" cars from dealers. This is one of my favorite pass-times (albeit I do it few and far between). But you should always have respect for the car you are driving--after all, someone is going to buy your abuse. I never rag on a vehicle that is not mine, it is common courtesy (I remember my dad and mom driving out from California to visit my wife and me a few years back. They brought there Dodge conversion van/camper with a 360 cu in. I had never driven anything with a 360 and wanted to drive it. As I was accelerating onto I-94, he made the comment that I was the only person in our family that did not floor it to see what it could do. I explained that it was not mine to play with. He was very impressed and greatful.) I suspect that if you were doing 130 mph, you have been viewing too many BMWFilms. Those cars took a thrashing in those films and were not repairable when the films were completed.
As for your situation. If the BMW has zero clearence heads and the timing chain (belt or gears) slipped or broke, it will take out the entire valvetrain. Porsches are like this. Now, the question is whether you caused it to fail, and whether your age will save you in Florida. I would agree with Ty, if it is a nominal amount, just pay it. But if it is the entire valvetrain, you may with to get a free consultation from a lawyer to see where you stand. Then make your decision from there.
I hope you get out of this mess okay.

I have a friend that has done a few test drives with BMW'*. They always told him to "stretch the legs" and have fun. I'd say this is the dealerships fault, shouldnt let little kids play with expensive toys!

I'm a little hesistant to believe this story for some reason. BMW has test drive schools, they invite people to come down to there factory and take their cars out for cruises. Hell when you buy a BMW you become a member of BMW Drivers Circle and they teach you how to drive the snot out of your car.
These are superior machines...I duuno, I'm still skeptical :?
