2000 SSEi or Acura RL [edit, was RS]
I want to first state that I hate this type of post and am embarrassed to be writing one. However, my brother and his wife just moved from NYC to Columbus, OH. They've never needed to own a car, but now they're buying two vehicles. A loaded 2007 Honda Pilot to cart around themselves, their 2 kids, and a dog; and they need a daily driver car for my brother to drive to and from work. They initially said they wanted a hybrid, so I didn't even bother trying to tell them to get a Bonneville.
Today they called me from a dealership, looking at a 2000 SSEi, 75,000 miles, light bronzemist, tan interior, chrome swoopies, 6 month warranty, for around $7000. Clean carfax, leased for 2 years, one owner after the lease until now. The photos look gorgeous. But they're actually considering getting an Acura RL [edit, originally wrote "RS"] with 130,000 miles instead for similar or perhaps more money. I think they're crazy if they don't get the SSEi. So that'* what I told them.
Did I do right? I don't know squat about Acuras, other than they're Hondas. If I had to choose between the two, I'd go with the SSEi all day long.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts I might pass along to them.

I think you did. I drove an RSX for a while. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE little car. Quick and tight, but can't be put into the same league as an SSEi. And at 130k, it will definitly be needing work. As I recall the steering was kinda problematic, even when it was new.

EDIT: Are we talking about the RSX, or the Acura RL?
An Acura RSX vs an SSEi...wow, those are in two different leagues. They WOULD be crazy to get the Acura IMO, especially if the price was more. But having almost double the miles would be enough for me to stop looking at the Acura.

Couldnt possibly be an RL, thats a new model, and should be taken hands down over the SSEi.
However, the TL is the only comparable car (size-wise to the Ei), and if I'm thinkin correctly, that particular TL was prone to tranny problems.

Pick the SSEi of course!
I'll put this in an analogy (I love analogies)
It'* like being asked to pick between a hot 21 yr-old woman and a 50 yr-old woman that was hot when she was 21 years old.
