Default trans gone, now with pictures and questions

Was on my way to go get the extra quart of oil. I stopped at a stop sign about 1 mile from my house and went to take off and no power. So i gave her a little gas maybe 20-25 % of the throttle and boom it sounded like a gernade went off. I pulled to the side of the road and looked and didnt notice anything but knew something was wrong. I got in it and started home because i was so close. About 300 feet form myhouse another boom and lots of grinding and smoke. I saw parts on the ground behind me. Got in the drive way and no more gears, just grinding. Looked in the road and about 500 feet of fluid and the driveway is full. The tranny is gone. I am so dissapointed. It could not have happened at a worse time in my life. I have 7 more weeks of college this semester until i can even get any money from a job. I have no transportation now and have to start calling to hook up a ride. I have been just sitting here for about an hour just thinking of how this sucks. I did manage to find a little humor in the sitution and i actually got a small laugh. It looks like someone will beat me to 14'* NA now. I really wanted to do the injectors since it was such a great idea. Well somebody make me feel better. Give em some insurance.

Damn that really sucks. Any sign of it failing before, or just boom out of nowhere?

I had had some things in the past, like a few times whenit was cold it would slip alittle the first 2 shifts but after that it was fine. And a few weeks ago it slipped but has been fine since then. Matter a fact it was shifting better now then ever. I know nothing about trannys but my guess would be the diff. Because of the boom and all that grinding. If i put it in any gear then it gridns like hell. I know there is no saving this tranny. I am going to rip out all my freaking teeth and put them under my pillow for the tooth fairy and that will be a start on a new tranny. Sorry i have to find some humor in this just because it is really depressing. You never know how it feels until it happens to you. I know how it feels now. It feels like someone kicked me in the stomach.

Default oh god!

I am sooo sorry to hear this!! :o I know how it goes when something hits you outta the blue with no moola to fix it. How many milles? my 89 sse had 318k and never had any tranny work - but that was a different animal. We had a torque converter go on our 92 fairly early.
That really sucks, but at least you prob did not thrash the engine!! Good luck. Bonnevilles are good for not leaving you stranded somewhere... they always seem to get ya home.

yea i know, i was about to bite the bullet and pm you and buy 2 sets of injectors, but something told me not to. That was yesterday morning and the tranny went later on that day. I hope i get things going good again to just dont know when. I just was looking for prices of rebuilds and that literally scared me to death. Then i looked at used trannys and i caught my breath but still scared. I am going to try to pull the tranny out myself. I am going to do some research and see how hard it is. That will save me a little money if i am able to do it. If anyone has any info on pulling the tranny (steps and tools) please pm me with any info. Why cant things like this happen over the summer when i have time to work. While in nursing school i have no time. Even if i wanted to work i couldnt because i have aboslutly no time with the work, classe, and clinicals. "When it rains, it pours"

I went to car-parts.com and i found some good prices (250-350), but those trannys have just as many miles as mine and some have more. I really dont want to put a high milage used one in and then have that go and be out the install price twice.
