Default Headliner

I'm looking at getting my headliner replaced, and one of the places I called said that they could do it in 2 hours. Can someone do a good job in 2 hours, or does it take longer than that?

Sounds about right. If I were to do it, heck no I can't do it in 2 hours. But for someone who does it for a living, sounds like a good round time.

I agree. I'm working on 2 weeks now and the headliner is still in my basement because I cant seem to find time. But a trim shop could do it.

when mine was replaced, it took the local "repair/paint/roofing" shop [yes I said roofing, they do cars, and roofs.. strange huh?] Well they didn't have the same OEM color as mine, but it looks awesome with a great looking 2 tone. It took them 48 hours to have the car ready, so I am not sure how much of that time was actually working, I don't remember how much it cost, or how much labor since it was 5 years ago. To me, 2 hours sounds a little short, especially if you run into any problems, but i'd say something around 3..

I have 2 spots in the back above the rear window that is coming loose. Is there any way to fix it before it gets out of hand? If so, how much does something like that cost? I know it varies from state to state but I would like a rough estimate. Thanks for your input!!!

cheap way, spray adheisive [sp?], put some on the mounting for the headliner, and a small amount on the fabric. wait for it to get tacky, then stick it on there. If you want to do a good job, you can yank it all down, and reglue or completely replace the whole thing, or send it off to be professionally done.

That spray adhesive makes it look really bad. By the time you spray enough to hold it onto the powdering backing, it soaks through and dries crappy...

(I just read that somewhere....hmmm....)

The place where I bought the material from said they charge $199 for headliner replacement. Doing the math that'* $20 for the material and $179 for labor. This seemed high to me. I would have expected $125 to $150 complete.

How much would you charge to do something equally as tedious??

I would come in around the $150 mark. If I was in business today, It would be probably 4 hours labor but if I had been doing it for years, or had competent installers, it would be 2-3 hours. That would be a fair labor rate, no?
