Welcome...you sound frustrated..OK, first you need to provide us with a couple more details.

1. The year and trim level of your Bonneville
2. Do you have an aftermarket intake or the standard factory airbox?
3. Has your MAF screen been removed?
4. Has the airbox been "gutted"

Have you owned the car for a while? was it owned by someone else and you just bought it? Can you easily identify parts under the hood? Have you done any modifications to the car that would affect air intake?

OK...that should cover it..sorry about the questions but it will really us determine what is wrong and we can get you back on the road

is it lacking any performance or having any problems of any kind besides the noise? how about fluid levels, is it leaking oil or coolant? Can you pinpoint where on the engine this sound is coming from?

HE'* ASKING IF THE CAR HAS AN AIR SILENCER ON IT (A MUFFLER FOR THE INTAKE). THATS ALL, IF THERE WERE A PERFORMANCE OR FLUID LOSS PROBLEM DONT YOU THINK THAT HE WOULD PRESENT THAT AS HIS MAIN PROBLEM?...

OH AND... I DON'T KNOW :(

The performance question is a good one to ask. If there is a restriction in the exaust system somewhere, the exaust will attempt to exit anywhere it can hence the air noise or vacuum sound. You would also notice a big performance decrease if this is the case. While this only "might" be one of the possible things causing the vacuum sound in question, it is a valid one.

Yeah man..no need to scream buddy. I have a feeling it has to do with the exhaust not escaping freely. You might wanna check that out. Maybe just have a friend rev ur engine while you walk around ur car and listen for the noise and see where its comin from. Just a suggestion..before u have to spend $$$ at an autoshop just for them to look at it.

I agree, I plugged CAT is nothing to sneeze at! It can eventual, cause a fire & burn that car down to ground! If the exhaust IS restricted in any way, it WILL try to escape where ever it can, even back through the intake valves if need be!
Now, if your air filter is damaged to (Holes, etc) it can make your engine sound louder too.
