You sir, are barking correctly. Use a DVM to measure your current pellet and find a resistor at radio shack. More than likely the pellet on your key is fine, but as a sure fire test, using a new resistor from RS won't hurt a thing. Plus, if it does remedy the situation, you already have the resistor. Solder it in, heat shrink it, and your done.

if that doesnt work theres this which replicates the square wave signal that the security module sends to the pcm.

Found an article on line to bypass the VATS system. vats.likeabigdog.com

Wired it up and the car fired up. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
