1992 trofeo is on a distinguished road
Default Pricing out a computer.

I got my appoinment with the local oldsmobile dealer next week, which I sorta want to cancel...

---1992 trofeo computer or cluster problem

Now, if I were to fill up my engine with heavy oil it would make my oil pressure gauge go up.. so I can trick that.. Also I can go to the dealer on a hot day which if the chip inside my computer is broken... The heat will shrink the card therefore making contact??? and on cold days the gauges just wont work.. so... basicly, I could get my car traded in for eighter the cadillac or the bonneville I want. They would be pretty dam generous too.. (for a car they only made a thousand of...) I think the dealer mite give me 7grand can. for it. If I go to the dealer to report problems.. and give them my vin.. they would put on like "car fax" (for example) my problems... so then I wouldnt be able to trade it in if they couldnt find the problem.. or if they found the problem but its a 1000+ dollar*can problem.

So Before I go inthere on thursday what can I do to deturman the problem? is it in the computer or is it in the gauges.. if its in the computer.. which computer.. and how much? if its in the gauges.. whats a new gauge cluster worth to GM... and are there any?

if its the computer.. Ive heard people only paying 400-500dollars*can for a new one.. if they like improperly jump start a vehicle..

Someone said that there distant relitive had a car like mine with the anologe dash.. he said only 300dollars (unkown) to refurbish..

If the techys couldnt find the problem.. would I have to pay only the door fee? or would I also have to pay labour for diagnostics?

the only reason Im saying its the computer is my old TV has a cracked card.. so it only works once its heated up...

I have a friend who used to work for the local telephone company. He said he can fix the problem if its a cracked card.. should I let him try? or would gm get pissed off if I went inside the computer box? (this cars about 8years off warrenty)
