Question about towing with the bonny
I see the bonneville'* are rated at 1k lbs towing capacity, but ive heard of this being over rated. I want to tow around my Yamaha Raptor on a little steel trailer, is this doable? Raptor weighs about 410 with a full tank, the trailer I can pick up and move around the yard myself. I figure its either i buy a receiver for it, or I risk having to trade the bonneville for a truck

As long as the hitch is mounted right you should be OK. But you may want to think about a trans oil cooler if your going to do a lot of long hauls. Just to help protect your trans.

Towing a 1000 lbs puts no more stress on things than having a car load of people. Put the load in the trailer as far back as you can without tipping the tongue in the air to avoid bottoming your air shocks out, and take it easy from a full stop and you should be fine.

also, just go easy on the breaks if at all possible. you just have to remember your car is a unibody and there isn't much more than sheet metal that the hitch is connected to.

I tow a 15 ft boat with a 90 hp mercury, and a 5X8 tube trailer almost regularly with my PA. Certainly this job would be better suited to a truck, but oh well, its just an old car. I do have a tranny cooler on her, and do flush the tranny out once a year. Can't say on long term the effects on the tranny, but it is very nicly geared for towing!!
