with my CAI, i actually think that loud sucking noise you can hear when i first start up my car sounds cool!!
Stitch.....what are you currently using to hold your pcm in place?? i currently have a couple of zip ties holding mine in place. it works great and doesn't slid around at all, but i would like to do something different that will look more appealing than zip ties.

well the PCM holder it came with is connected to it but the velcro that comes with it does absolutely nothing, so I used the two screws that were attached to it but they are just holding it in place, so i'm going to get a couple bolts to replace the screws.

How does the filter mount in the fender well? I assume it goes through the hole for the EVAP canister but does it just hang from the hose? Or does the lip on the cone filter extend over the hole and gravity holds it in place? Or is there a bracket?
Just curious as I'm fiddling with the idea of adding this to my to-do list for my '88.

I know this has been asked before, but I seem to remember hearing two answers. Is there any concern that you will get water in the FWI? I can't imagine being able to avoid soaking the filter and I also can't imagine that that would be good for the engine. Has anyone had problems with this? We have had a lot of rain around here lately and consequently, a lot of deep puddles on the road. On a couple occasions my belts were slipping and my alt wasn't charging. I would think that this amount of water would be a conern with a FWI.

On the 2k (which it was designed originally for) the filter is VERY well protected. If you get water that deep, you have much bigger problems.
On the 92-99, I'm not aware of anyone posting any issues, regardless of the fact that the filter is more exposed on that application. I expect the 92-99 to have to clean the filter more often than the 2k, but other than that, there shouldn't be any issues at all.
Countless members have posted no problems through winter. If you expect issues, save your old setup for winter.

Can someone show a pic of where the FWI goes into the fender? I have seen it on the '99- but not the '00+. Also does the evap cannester get moved on the '00+?

the 9" cone filter basically hangs from the hose. But also sits on the plastic plating that'* attached to the bumper. The easiest way to install it is to attach the filter to the tube then push the tube up through the hole into the engine bay. (two people needed for this) The instructions say to tilt the filter towards the fog light (they don't show a picture of which tilt) So mine is tilted with the top towards the fog and the end of the cone towards the wheel since I couldn't tilt it the other way (no room)
