SC or Not SC

SC or Not SC
My wife and I were given a Boniville by our grandparents and I want to put a trailor hitch on it so I can tow a small trailor. THe owner'* manual says it'* okay so long as it isn't SC. Been reading up all morning and wanted to make sure I understand this correct...
It'* a '93, 8th digit of the VIN is an L. THe '93 body is an SE 4th and 5th digit of the VIN is HX. THe RPO says L27 so it'* a "3.8L V6 MFI 3800 TPI HO" with the SLE package (RPO H4U). THe SLE didn't become a model until '94 so when talking to vendors I should just say it'* an SE.
So this is not an SC.
Do I have it right so far?
What does the "HO" mean on the engine description?

The SLE option package was, as you've found out, available in 93. I think maybe SLE became an actual trim level designation in 94.
The HO stands for High Output. I guess that'* relative to the older 3.8 that only had 150 or 160 hp, I don't remember.
Yes, you have an SE. And it should be ok to put a hitch on it.

I have basically the same car, as my usermane implies, i think you should be fine with a trailer.....i will have to ask how many miles are on the car????
you will want to add trans cooler, no question
get pics of that thing, 93 was the frist year of the H4U RPO code, and you have something elso no other year has......2.5 exhaust with a High flow muffler Stock RPO code N10

Hi, welcome to the club.
Like 1993SLE said, mileage has a major effect, as well as maintenance history.
A tranny cooler is a must with these trannies if you are doing any pulling. The 1993-1995 4T60E tranny has been known to let OD go, as many here have experienced.
BTW, where are you located? I have a 1997 SSE parts car with a trailer hitch assembly you can have for free if you can meet me within 50 miles of Sauk Centre, MN.

I believe it'* because of the extra strain on the drivetrain, but not sure. All I know is it clearly says in the 95 owners manual that you should never do it. The previous owner on my car did it and it didn't seem to have any lasting effect on the car. As well I have all the maintenance reciepts and it didn't seem to cause any issues.
Probably an engineering precaution.

Reason for not putting one on a SC'ed car is because the supercharger will be boosting alot more, thus putting you will be running too much torque for extended periods through the tranny which was designed to take all that power for only short periods at a time.
