Default Oxygenated vs Nonoxygenated Gas

Living in rural minnesota isn't the best place to own a SSEi...I live in a small town and the only place that has 91 octane sell Nonoxygenated 91...They have a little sticker by that button that says for boats, snowmobiles collector cars, etc....

This brings up my curiosity. What is the difference, and why can/cant run this in my car (I havent ever bought it, I always go to a gas station in the neighboring town)?

If you have the opportunity to run non-oxy, do it. Your engine will reward you with more power and better mileage. It will cost more, but in the long run it will even out.

As long as that 91 is unleaded (and the nozzle fits ), run it!

It might give you slightly higher emissions at smog check time, but I strongly suspect you'll pass given how low-emission 3800'* are anyway.

Oxygenates in fuel may have been useful in the late 80'* to early 90'*, but are not needed now given the state of pollution controls in today'* cars. But you know how it is with gov't programs...once Congress mandates something, it never dies

I actually think that it costs about the same as the regular 91 does in Glenwood.

Minnesota doesn't have emissions testing anyway so it doesn't matter.

Thanks guys for straightening this out, I will start filling up with the Non-oxy.
