Nagging Questions...
 

Well, as the subject says, I gots me some questions...

1)"Traction Off" light. Yeah, I researched it and all, but I have yet to come to a definitive conclusion as to why mine is on. I DO know that A)Trans temp, B) WSS, and C) low brake fluid will cause this light to come on. What else would cause it to light up, other than a bad TC module? Though my trans is near death, it isn't overheating, my SES light is not coming on, and neither is my ABS light. The light goes off when ignition is off (obviously) but comes on when vehicle moves for about 10 seconds or so, no matter the runtime in idle prior to shifting into gear.

2) 2 coolant temp senders. On s1 L67's, there are 2 senders, or is it one sender and one switch? FSM's make no mention to what the sender opposite of the one that runs under the exhaust crossover (I know that is a temp sender). FYI, I replaced both senders with the same p/n. Reason why I am asking this is because my cooling fans do not kick on by themselves unless I put the A/C on, and I am wondering if the new senders have anything to do with that.

Thanks for the schematics, but it does little to answer the question on what the purpose of the second temp. sender actually does on the L67. L27's only have one sensor, which is what you posted. My FSM's do not even mention the second temp. sender (if it does I have yet to find it), even in the ECM pinouts it only calls out for one temp. sender, not two.

i believe that your EBTCM might be shot ...(i have one from the 93 Ei parts car) OR it might be a wheel speed sensor, but if it was a WSS then it would throw the ABS light too....interesting.....

and for the cooling fans i believe that one is for the PCM and the other is for the Temp gague

This should be the correct diagram. It only shows the components that affect the cooling fans so you won't see both temp sensors.

That was what I was thinking too...but, *if* it was the EBTCM, wouldn't the light go on as soon as it started, instead of waiting until motion was acheived?

As for the sensors, again that is what I thought...but I also recall somewhere that the sensors were calibrated differently...but all the autopart stores call for only one sensor, so I am at a loss :roll:

The sensor below the throttle body is for the PCM and fan control, the one at the back of the intake is for the gauge

Have you gotten the car scanned for #1? Its usually a dealer only thing, and they do charge for it, i was quoted 50 bucks.

A lot of good mechanic shops will also be able to read those type of codes, but once again they usually charge for it, I got lucky and got mine included with a new set of tires.

He has a scanner and should be able to see all the parameters.
