Default Improtant facts from GM inside news

Grand National- A rumor (remember rumor!) is that Buick'* high performance version of the Riviera will get a 3.6L Turbocharged V6 instead of a V8 in it'* performance model. If this happens, there is a good chance that the Grand National name will make a return.

STS/STS-V- The STS-V will receive the supercharged 4.4L Northstar for the 2006 model year.

G6- Coupe and hard-top versions (in that order) of the G6 will arrive in late 2005 as 2006 models. In 2006 a G6 GTP will be added powered by a 240 HP version of the new 3.9L OHV engine. A G6 GXP powered by a 270hp+ version of the 3.9L will also come into play after 2007.

Also, the current 3800 engine series will be discontinued in 2006/07, replaced by the 240 hp 3.9L V6. In 2008, the Grand Prix will either be replaced by the G8 sedan, or carry on along side it.

since when was the GN the "High Perf. Riviera?" There'* no chance it would have a turbo six, either (too un-American for GM).

Actually they've developed twin turbo I-6 (made a trailblazer concept, 400 HP) and a twin turbo 3.6 concept in one of the buicks, again doing 400 HP. Pretty sweet i think....An inline 6 with twin turbos on a 2 seater buick roadster could be cool... They've got the turbo ecotec in the works though.... Who knows? I'd love to see T types again

I don't want to sound like I am cutting down that info, but GM, Chevy in particular, has already stated in a few press releases and at a number of shows this year that there will be no upcoming Camaro/Chevelle based on the next gen GTO. The RWD replacement will carry the Monte Carlo nameplate and that IS confirmed in writing. Chevelle is being considered in 2008 under the refresh of the Malibu, as the coupe and convertible form of the segment. This decision will be based on the reception of the G6 coupe/hardtop convertible. With that platform, it could be RWD with the 3.5 DOHC as base and a rumored remake of the 5.3 in the SS placement. My dad works for GM and I have got some great info from him on these things.

As for our beloved Bonneville...
No one inside Pontiac is talking about where G8 is positioned. Some are saying it will replace both GP and Bonnie, landing somewhere in between in size. Others are saying the Bonnie will move up slightly in size and G8 will be the replacement for GP only. Right now, G8 is only an internal designation for a full size, RWD vehicle. When I know, everyone here will know!
