i was just messing around with my car today. i took off the corner lenses and said, hmmm, i should clear these today. so i did it, it went great, and they are drying as i type. i also took off the grill cuz i was gonna paint it, but i decided it wouldnt look good with a gold emblem in the middle, so anyone got a silver one that wants to trade? i then took out my air filter to see how dirty it was, it wasnt bad but i aired it out anyyways. then i took off the air intake and and thought about the maf screen. i just wanted to try it. i took it off with two knives and the ring came off in 1 second. i pulled the screen and took it for a drive. no noticable difference, so i put it back on just to be safe. i did take some pics of the inside of my TB. does it need a cleaning or is it good to go?

That's clean. Very clean. Mine was black, and if you tapped it it would drop dust off the top half. That's dirty.

ya gotta remember, you were looking at the back and he's looking at the front.

what ya got to do is get it open and look at the back, the back is what get's dirty

you don't have to pull the SC to pull the TB, and further, you don't have to pull the TB to take a look at the back of that plate, just take a look at the back of the throttle butterfly. easiest way to do that is yank it fully open by etheir pulling on the cable or grabbing the half wheel and turning it, it will turn and you can take a look with the TB still on the car

With front that clean, I doubt the back is anywhere near dirty.

but your a redneck and arn't thinking about it, :P

etheir way, the TB on my car looked exactly like that, but when i flipped it open, the back was caked up so bad it wasn't even funny, so i held it open and emptied a can of TB cleaner onto it (after you remove the MAF that is)

If you have over 45k on the car, I gaurantee the back is filtthy, regardless of how clean the entrance bore is.

I have never cleaned my TB on either car. One has 136k and one has 141k miles.

What are the symptoms of a dirty TB, and what is the easiest and best way to clean it? I dont have much time to do major disassembly work.

Sticky accelerator. Over time the acceleration will get weaker. Once cleaned you'll notice better throttle response. I cleaned it in both my cars and noticed a slight improvement.
