In my dads name but I have full control of the car due to the fact I pay the loan for it. It would be in my name but insurance doubles if I do that.
And if I ever get married she'* gonna sign a prenup excluding the car from joint ownership. It shall always be mine.

Sucks to be in the states where y'all live. When I was a kid my cars were always in my name because it had no effect on the insurance cost. Being on my parents insurance would have been cheaper, but not enough to matter.
Now, my Bonne is in my name and my name only. I pay for it monthly, but the wife put the downpayment on it. She still doesn't like though. Too big for her. She doesn't like fullsize cars.
*edit* Britt, just so you know your insurance doesn't go by the fact you "own" the car or not. The state of MO doesn't care about that at all. They go by Your parents driving record, and yours. The insurance is probably high because it'* a late model supercharged car, and you're a 19 year old with little experience behind the wheel.

Our cars are mid-size sedans aren't they? I don't think they've made a true full-size for a while now have they?

I'm not saying they're not. I'm just saying because you are young that means you have less experience, which means a higher rate. Couple that fact with the fact that you're driving a fairly new, SUPERCHARGED coupe, it makes for higher rates. If you were in a GP GTP or Bonne SSEi of the same year it'd be lower.
