I have all my tires balanced,but i still seem to get some kind of weird shaking like the tires all find a out of round spot and shake..mostly from the rear,i have air schocks in the back and there is rust around the bag area,I dont think they are leaking..not sure.if I changed to reg shocks what would I do with the air system..I wonder if the shocks are letting the tires shake the car..al

I had a problem like this too. It was the tires - 100%. They were Uniroyal puncture seal. Tire shop re-balanced them 3 times. Finally admitted the tires were the problem. Changed to Michelin Harmony and the problem was gone. Just because the tires got balanced once doesn't mean the problem is solved, apparently. Also, usually tire shops don't always have the swiftest people working on tire balance and installs.....

What speed to you notice your vibration? Mine started at around 50 mph.

I just switched to yokohama en vigors all around,I balanced them myself and I can still feel something,i can feel some in the gas pedal too..hmm

When did the shaking start? Was it before or after you switched tires? I guess we can rule out the 'swiftest' tire balancers at the tire shop.

You have tested the wheels for true? I had a vibration on my 1983 98 that sounds similar to your description. It was right after the car had been in an accident and had a tranny service at AAMCO. Was driving on the highway to Vancouver and the car would shake at speeds over 50 mph. I was sure the AAMCO guys had done something to the car when it was serviced because God knows the body shop wouldn't mess up on something like a slightly bent rim, right? Wrong. Took it into the AAMCO in Vancouver and told them to test the car. Boy was my face red when they found it was the wheel. After a minor price gouge for a used steel replacement, everything was smooth again. Sometimes the bend in the steel doesn't have to be much to create a problem.

Uh, you don't let your signifcant other drive this car do you? Mine doesn't really have any concerns about hitting curbs every so often which plays hell on wheels and wheel covers, or taking the r.*. mirror off backing out of the garage. I keep 2 spare mirrors handy, and have a couple of spare rims. Luckily, she'* still my best friend and adorable wife. (no she'* not watching me type this).

well when I had the tires on for balance,the rims looked good to me,and they balanced out to 0..I noticed this since I got the car,next step is to jack it up and run the car fronts up and see whats going on,I grew up in a lincoln mecury dealership,so I have been working on cars forever it seems like,used a jim beam balancer that you had to dial in the ocsillyscope I called it to balance them..prob about 1968 or so.and I have a little machine that spins up the tires,used to be a cone you hoked to the wheel and turned these little wheels on the cone that set the balance..we will see what happens

That machine would also have a 'hood' you pull down over the wheel when it spins right? That means you wouldn't necessarily see if the wheel had wobble. The machine will still give you the calibration to balance the tire but that'* all. It could be balanced but have in/out wobble that might cause the vibration you're feeling when it'* firmly planted against asphalt? Found this out on a used wheel I got for my wifes Saturn. You can jack the car up and check for in/out wobble. If you're feeling it through the steering and gas, I'm betting one of your front wheels is the culprit.

yea it has a hood..its a hunter machine,my friend has that road force balancer..i will jack up car and try in out wobble,I can see the rim on balancing but fimms look good

If it turns out the rims are not the problem? Try rotating the front wheels to the back and see if that makes any difference. Just a thought.

In the old days when cars were rear wheel drive you could tell if the front or back was out of balance, believe it or not, by putting your hand on the top of the steering column while driving. Doesn't work like that any more with FWD transaxles.

Yep it was tires.rebalanced 3 out of 4 that were done by me and were 0 on machine,put them back on and they were out...weird.
