I figure if they are willing to pry open the locked fuel door, no point putting a locking cap in their way as that will surely get destroyed as well and just cause more damage.

Luckily that hasn't been an issue for me.

With OBD2 cars they seen to cause EVAP codes. As far as securing your gas with the baffles and restrictors it'* kind or hard to get a hose down there. Last year some dirt bag theif cut the filler hose on my truck to syphon the gas out and I didn't realize what happened until I went to fill up and fuel was dribbling on the ground.

^ Wow that'* something else!
I would have never thought some one would go that far to get fuel!
I guess that could be covered by vandalism insurance..but u probably just swapped the neck William?
One night after work, someone had popped the locking fuel door open, and I was glad I had a Locking gas cap, as I had a full tank!
My old non locking cap had a seal problem (MIL) so I went to the dealer and got the proper Locking cap for the PA and have had no problem with Evap Codes since.
(And it was recently tested at Air Care, to pass a pressure test after 3years)

A few years ago, we had a rash of fuel thefts from gas stations in our area. Authorities couldn't figure out how they were making off with so much gas until they seen something suspicious on a camera. A pickup truck with a like a 15ft enclosed utility trailer would park over the gasoline in ground tank fill ports and with holes cut out in the trailer floor, he would put hoses down into the tanks, use an electric pump and top off 55 gallon drums inside his trailer. All during daylight hours.

And a few more years before that, someone was running around all the farms in upstate NY stealing diesel fuel out of the farmers storage tanks and sometimes right out of the tractors.

Ya Mike Gas is worth stealing to some..but these guys learned a lesson!
We have had a few vans discovered as rolling, stolen, fuel transporters.
Here is one of the more exciting stories from last Nov.
If u look closely at video u can see it crashed though brick wall in front of house!

I Have not used one since I had to break it off with a jack handle. It froze solid and could not get it unlocked or even the key to go in it.

^ya good point Richard!
In winter, I put a bit of wheel bearing grease inside lock key cylinder.
And carry a spray lock de-icer, just in case.
That would prevent it from freezing up.
