Default Catalytic Converter Question

I need to get a cat for my baby and wanted to know if anyone has ever bought from this company and what your thoughts are of this product.

If you don't have to pass a yearly emissions test, why worry about a Cat.

In the wonderful &%&^$*&*$ state of Alaska, it needs to be done. We (military) are issued base passes. In Alaska, even if your car is registered in another state (what kind of BS is this) it must pass a smog test before the base will issue a pass.

Then what you should do is weld in a dump valve ahead of your Cat with an electrically operated control to a switch on the console.

I think the valve can be purchased from INTENSE for about $160.

It can be purchased from the Grand Prix store for $148.

In my experience that cat would do the job just fine.

I picked up a cat with a bung hole at the rear to ensure there was room to mount the O2, however due to the shorter length of the Magnaflow replacement cats.... the stock location can be saved.

How the thing you want to know about is that the stock cat has a flange that bolts to the downpipe built into the front of it. Most shops will hem and haw about cutting that and trying to weld a flange w/o any pipe onto your new cat. (I guess it takes a little talent). Try and find a shop that has that flange ... that will make the replacement much easier.

The product is fine.

As to the company selling, make sure you know their real shipping and return policies. I read some of the negative feedback items and most focused on the cost of "FREE" shipping and or the return policy. I've never ordered from them so can't say, just cautioning you to know what their shipping and return policies are before ordering. Call if necessary or possible, IMO.
