Default Advanced Auto Thermostat

Ok well a few years ago my brother bought his 180 and 160 for his regal. I went in and bought it but im not sure if it is correct. The stocker has a spring at the bottom to where this one does not. Is it the right one? i dont want to try to put it in and run it if it is not since i dont want to screw up my car.

Perhaps a V8 one? I would like to put it in during spring so thats why im asking..

160??? Noooo, you don't want to run a 160. Especially if you live in Indiana. You'll be setting CELs and you'll have next to no heat... Stick with the 180. Also, post a pic so we know exactly what we're looking at. A picture says 1000 words

Don't mean to hijack your thread m8, i am about to do routine maintenance on the lesabre and i was wondering if should put in a 180 T stat....keep in mind that the climate here is very cold at the moment...hate the winters in the "Great Toronto".

Appreciate it guys.

I've got the 180 in mine and my heat is nice and toasty... It just takes a bit longer to warm up...

you should get an intense stat if you can still return that one. seems more worth it.

Thats a balanced thermostat. Its quite safe to use, can't be forced closed by a blast of high pressure coolant (when you floor it) and, like drilled, there is always some coolant flow.

so would it still be safe to use?? Would it work like a normal 180 t-stat??
