low oil pressure in my 00
As Pat noted in a video I posted recently, my oil pressure was dropping quite a bit at idle, and it was continuing to get worse. I was thinking the worst, and I am not prepared for another motor. Pressure was dropping to about 25-30 at idle, but it would get to the middle mark of 40 under acceleration.
I was running 10w-30 Valvoline with an AC delco filter, and it only had about 1500 miles on it. I changed it yesterday. I put in some 10w-30 Mobile 1 High Mileage with an AC delco filter. Pressure is now a tick above 40 at idle, and moves to about 50-60 during acceleration. I am very impressed that just a simple oil change could do such a thing. Long live my L67! |
nice.....glad to see that its back up in the safe zone
Mobil 1 FTW |
Phew....
I'm not sure I'm ready to see another go down right now. |
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Getting nervous that he doesn't have a oil pressure gauge.
|
PS, Bill, I only put in Mobile 1 after your little rant post about the sale.
Mine is $19.94 regular price though ;) |
Phewww...thankfully it's back to normal. I wouldn't worry too much about 30psi heatsoaked on VERY HOT DAY at idle. I personally like to see no less than 40 at idle though. I watch my oil pressure constantly everyday. 45 days later on it's second round of Mobil 1 it still is where it should be. :D

My rant? Sales pitch I think it was.
Stick with the Mobil 1 if you can. The consistency over time and miles is better than any other oil I have seen/used. As Pete is metnioning he'll see the same pressure no matter miles. |

8 PSI at hot idle FTW!
In my POS cars ( ) the low pressure oil monitor chimes at 4PSI. At any rate, keep an eye on it Andrew. |
I bought a new engine when mine hit 10.
