LIM gasket questions
 

doing some searching i think purchasing the fel-pro LIM gaskets were a mistake. are the aluminum GM LIM gaskets much superior to the fel-pro? i was going to put the LIM on tonight but if the GM ones are the way to go i'll order them now and wait.

are the LIM gaskets on intense the proper ones for the 1995 L67. is there a link which shows what is the same and what is different series 1 and series 2?

gmpartsdirect only shows the complete gasket overhaul set. anyone know what the part # is for just the LIM gaskets?

in addition one of the heads has some small pits around the water port. using any other type of gasket i'd have just swiped the pit with some gasket maker. since the seem to be probabmatic from the get go i don't want them to leak. not trying to pull head off and have it machined either. :roll:

can i swipe a little gasket maker on the pits with this style gasket only torqued to 88 in/lb?

If you have a 95 L67 you have a Series 1 and the aluminum gaskets aren't available for your car. Though I think the heads on the S1 vs S2 may be the same, I'm not entirely sure if the gaskets are exactly the same.

And the torque spec for the LIM is not 88 in/lbs (should be 11 ft/lb).

was typing of what i recalled from reading the manual. i will refer to it again prior to assembly. i just want to ensure i buy the best LIM gasket available for purchase.

The plastic ones for your car are OK to use as long as you don't use them with Dexcool. The aluminum frame are preferred, but since you can't get them, you're fine with the plastic ones. Just keep the Dexcool away! ;)

The Fel-Pro gaskets are not a problem, especially if you don't run DexCool. If you're green, you're good to go with them. Both of my cars looked great on OEM gaskets at over 100k.

Use 11ft/lbs. Some manuals are a bit different on that torque spec. In the long run, there isn't much difference between 88in/lbs (7.5ft/lbs) or 11 ft/lbs with regards to gasket deformation. But there's a bit more safety in 11. Clean the theaded bosses well, and use blue threadlocker on the bolts before torquing.
