Letter to GM

why didnt they make the 92-99 pontiac bonneville with 4 wheel disc brakes it would look so hot if they did they gave the grand prix 4 disc but us bonneville guys get screwed with the drums

All in all, I think the braking is actually quite good, I have no problems with it

Good luck with the letter, I'm 99% sure it'd go straight to the recycling bin.

Its an H-body thing. The reason GP have rear disc is because its a different chassis (W-body).

Nothing wrong with drums, rear brakes only do 35% of the work anyway.

If you don't like the looks..there's not much we can do to help you.

If you are unhappy with teh stopping power. We can make many recommendations starting with adjusting the rears so they do their part.

What do you expect them to do about it now?

Any conversion kits available?

Realistically, what problem would you be trying to solve, anyway? Most of your braking effort is up front because that's where most of the mass is, including _all_ the drivetrain. The back wheels are pretty much only there to support the back-seat passengers, all the junk in the trunk, and keep the bumper from dragging on the ground.

With rear discs installed, you'd need to reproportion your braking force, but IMHO you'd need to scale it way back to prevent near-constant lockup at the slightest touch; your ABS would be working overtime. This reminds me of the old GM X-bodies with the poorly-proportioned systems that always locked the rear wheels too soon. I remember stopping at a red light in the rain, and watching a Pontiac Phoenix slide right by me on the right, and do a nice pirouette right in the middle of the intersection. Fortunately nobody hit him!
