Does it always say there's 1 record for the car then?

I'm thinking that it is the dealership where the car was originally sold, or the dealership the car was sold to.

Could be an insurance claim. I actually paid for the info on my car before I bought it. Glad I did. It gave me the entire vehicle history from the day it was originally sold. I think I paid about 20 bucks for 20 vehicle reports. I only used it once, but my other 19 have expired now. There's a couple companies on the internet that do this.

The reports will tell you about any accident (in the US) where more than $500 damage was incurred, any water damage (like Murdock's unfortunate experience), title changes, and mileage at each title change, lienholders, and any extraordinary mechanical service.

So is the 1 record meaning of one person owning it, or one insurance claim then?

I told the guy that accident quoted cars are ok because they are so cheap, and when they quote accident at the auction, it can be something as small as a parking lot dent in the door, but they legally have to claim it.

Does anyone have an unlimited subscription to hat thing that i could borrow just this once? please?

I tried out one of those sites too (possibly the same one), and I decided not to pay for the full report. Mine showed 3 documents, and I'm pretty sure that those have to be the original lease (mine was a GM lease from Virginia), the sale to the rental agency (it had become a seldom used rental car...too expensive I guess), and the sale to us.

These are supposed to be every available document pertaining to the car, so they would have to include every sale, wouldn't they? I think it's pretty safe to assume that the 1 document is the original sale, but you can pay for the full report if it's really bugging you.
