Alright, I found pictures and specs of the engines that are to replace the 3800 series...I must say, I am disappointed. The most torque I saw on any of those engines was only 250-ish. Bad move, imho.

Its sad. but they have to, its getting harder and harder for them to make the 3800 meet the new standers.. :(

Dodge had to do the same with with the Great 4.0L I6 :(

New stuff can be better. GM moved the 5.7 out of the trucks after a million years. I got the 5.3.. whoa baby that puppy has potential. Rips Hemi truck owners all the time.

Funny part is...the Hemi.. it'* a 5.7

Not as much as you might think. Mike aka Techy Ted has one.. He made a mistake and let me burn off a little of his tires. They give you a healthy chunk of the power.

The 6.0L L76 that'* going in the G8 has real potential, too. The 6-speed it'* being matched up to can handle up to 600 ft-lb of torque. Slap a M110 on that puppy and move the 391ft-lb stock torque on up close to/in to the 500 range.

And the G8 is a 4-door to boot. Now that'* a grocery getter.

Hmmm.... I'm thinking L67/L76 swap into the '00 chassis....

Nah, probably would be much more work than it'* worth. Would have to match it up to a STS-V tranny, if that'* FWD.

Anyhoo, the L67, like Don said, will always have it'* spot in my heart, too.

There may be.. however Mike only had so much tread available for communicating via smoke signals.
