Default Sweet exploding spark plug (Bill told me to post this)

So I replaced a coil that went bad and this happened a mile down the road.

That'* a bad situation Mike...

For those that can't tell.. Mike had something hit the plug. No compression on cylinder #6.

Sucks that you got maybe a couple miles out of it.

I figured that out from the compression gauge pictured. That'* never a good sign. A smashed plug and compression gauge in the same pic is like seeing a vasectomy patient and a chainsaw in the same pic.

Obviously this is a piston failure.

I would get a hold of Ed Morad for a new block, do a fuel pressure check on the car to make sure fueling issues didnt cause this and go from there.

From what Frankie, Mike and I can think so far..it seems like it might be a 130# springs on stock valves. I hear Frank souped his motor at IDD with that one.

Ignore my ingnorance or misunderstanding, but what are you saying? He should have been running 105# springs?

The plug was just a stock replacement (delco).

What I was doing at the time was just testing the feel of the car after replacing the coil and a bunch of sensors (TP, O2, etc.). She was running awesome so I cleared all my DTC'* and decided to take it on the highway to see what she had, Pulling on to the highway I got on it a bit she kicked down a gear and BOOOOOM. :(

A sad day for my baby.

I'll repost after we tear it down this Sunday.
