Actually:
In the U.*., GM will focus on its core brands; Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC. Pontiac will serve as a focused brand with fewer entries, within the Buick-Pontiac-GMC channel. GM will have a total of 36 nameplates in 2012, down 25 percent from 2008 levels. The plan also provides additional detail on the Hummer, Saturn and Saab brands.

I think it means they are going to dump all but sports models for Pontiac. The Solstice is selling well and they already have a ton of money invested tooling plants in NJ and Kentucky. The G8 is sold worldwide with good sales and doesn't require additional US corporate money being it'* made by Holden. The Cobalt is on it'* way out and the Cruze about to enter. Cheaply made in China and soon India. GM says a US plant but I wonder now with the bailouts. Sport Model of it getting a Pontiac Badge ???? GM plans shuttering alot of US plants under the reorganization, streamlining their brands, and I think eventually they are gearing slowly towards building their cars where they are profitable again. Seems kinda quiet as to whats to become of the GP/G6.
