Transmision
My transmission seems to be, not slipping in normal speeds but don't change gears when at passing gear. Is that still a problem?

Well, the transmission shifts smoothly when I drve the car normally. When I want to go fast the transmission whines at the highest rpm and doesn't shift. Also it slips when i come tio a slow down and when I pick up speed it jerks then shift to the next gear.

Trans problem....Sun Gear
Fellas,
I know we have different bonnies..I have a 2001 Black SSEi so I'm not sure if our trannies are different but my car has been in the shop the last week for basically the same problem. The car was jerking really badly and laboring to shift gears. I took my car back in Februrary to the dealership for a much smaller problem that they said was being caused by the PCM...supposedly it was slightly out of line so they reprogrammed it. Well this time the car is really bad and when I took it in...they told me somehow the "SUN GEAR" had been stripped probably because of a faulty part from the assembly line. I was very upset and they are replacing my entire transmission...brand new! I only have about 38,500 miles on her and thank god I opted for the extended warranty...I only have to pay a 100$ deductible. What are you guys' thoughts on this?? Anyone else having this same problem?? Let me know...thanks!
Jason

Tranny Replacement
Yeah, thank god for the warranty! The new tranny will come with a three year or 50,000 mile warranty. The total cost is 2866.00 for the tranny and around 3K for the labor or so...damn expensive. I'm just praying I can trust my car again and won't ever have anymore problems like this!

My engine went out on me in March of this year and I'm wondering if thats why my trans is starting to mess up. My motor went out for some odd reason after my mileage warrenty expired and it was only 2 year/ 24,000 mile warrenty. The miles went 1st and they wouldn't cover it so I went to a mechanic and he did the job for $1650.00 and put a used motor in the car. I'm wonderung since my original motor went out did that take affect on my trans? I do have another extended warrenty though and take it to the dealer. I hope they fix it.

To stay on topic though, I think the best deal is the intense 4t65-e I doubt anyone can custom make one for less or even at the same price with the reliability that they offer. I could be wrong but I don’t think I am.

I brought my car to the shop this morning and they said that my transmission is fine, the motor isn't getting enough fuel to shift to the next gear in higher r.p.m.'*. The mechanic was saying that if my transmission was messed up the car wouldn't go to the next gear at all.

The Mechanic IS WRONG!
Fellas,
That line about "if your transmission is messed up, the car won't shift at all" is NOT TRUE!!! Take it from me...I just had to get my transmission replaced...got a brand new one!! My car is a 2001 SSEi...and even though they had to replace it...it still shifted!!! But it was messed up so tell the Mechanic that his statement about that isn't true....might want to get a second opinion if I were you. Just some thoughts...
