Default Just Bought a '96 Olds LSS! Electrical Question

I picked up a one owner 82,000 mile cream-puff of an Olds LSS on Tuesday. This is my first Olds since I sold my '84 Cutlass over 10 years ago. What a great car! Paid $3650 at the GM dealer where it was purchased new and then traded in last week by an elderly gentleman. Apparently, the fan belt broke and left his wife stranded, so they traded it in for a new "reliable" car. Looks like it has almost brand new Kelly tires on the factory chromed alloy wheels. The car rode great on the 150 mile trip home and only has a couple of minor issues - noisy PS pump (quieted down after using Lucas PS Stop Leak), broken catch on the overhead sunglass holder, and inoperable map light.

I'll post some pictures once I get an account at a picture hosting site - any recommendations on which one to use?

Jim

Nice Find!
Does it have the dual zone ECC with passenger control on their door?

82K, what a baby! I got mine with 107K and now has almost 150K and its only needed basic maintenance. And this is how I drive. http://youtube.com/watch?v=PQhpyT8zitY

Does it have the dual zone ECC with passenger control on their door?

My son has one - loves it! I was impressed with the interior - not a huge fan of the exterior...truly a Sleeper! If you'd like to add pics to this thread, we can move it to Your Other Ride for you. For now, this has been moved to the Lounge.

Congrats on your find!

It'* got the dual zone ECC with passenger side controls. I was going through it today and am amazed at how clean this car is - all of the hardware on the suspension looks new! I think the only options it doesn't have are the sunroof and the blower.

I forgot to mention - I fixed the catch on the eyeglass compartment. The latch is an interesting piece of engineering. Also, when I had the eyeglass holder/map light assembly out, I figured out why the map lights weren't working - they weren't plugged in. Not only that, but I couldn't find the wiring harness that goes to the map lights! I'm sure it'* fallen down in there somewhere, I'm just afraid of messing up the headliner to get to it. Any suggestions on where to look for the plug?
Thanks,
Jim

Moving to Your Other RIde for better visibility of your Electrical question. I can check with my son - not sure if he'll know though.

If it is similar to the Bonne (and I am pretty sure it is), the map light wiring harness should run up the A pillar on the dirvers side and then across the front, up above the headliner, near the windshield. It should be there, but it could just be a little out of your sight.

This is one of those odd posts that doesn't really belong anywhere, or belongs in 3 different sections. It shouldn't be in 'other rides' because the LSS is one of the dedicated models we support. But your topic is also alot more than asking for help. How about we have you start a new topic in Electrical or 92-99 for your actual problems?

Since you don't have any pics up, this isn't a YOUR RIDE post, so I'll move your topic to General Chat.
