Junkyard prices

I should be going out to the junk yard in the next couple weeks for my GP and I was wondering what I should expect to pay for some items. the junk yard is you pull.

Depends a lot on competition in your area. Where I live, a good SII 3800 costs at least $600; there are NO u-pull-it yards, and no competition.

I get green with envy when I hear about $150 engines, and $50 trannies. Almost makes me want to move.

Anyway, to check the NON- u-pull-it junkyard prices, go to: car-part.com

Prices do vary widely.
One local yard I can pay $30 for an entire door and another is $100. This is why I usually drive 45 min to get parts.

Well, at the junkyard around here, it is u pull, and the guy is usually drunk, so I wouldn't have to pay more than 30 for any of it, if he HAD any of it.

There's only one or two U-pull yards left around here, and they don't have shit. I think they make up prices as they go. Got two identical parts from the guy, a few days apart, and he charged me twice as much for the second part. Then he has a little punk ass kid working there, who charges out the ass, even for broken shit. " Oh, those are $150 brand new, so....I'll sell it to you for $130."

The other yards are usually rediculously high too, or don't ever have anything. There's also a lack of newer cars in yards around here.

On matching the paint. There is a flexible paint line made by SEM. They are the company to go with. Excellent stuff.

It varies in different areas. We have a great hook up here with a local place. I can get stuff dirt cheap. And I don't even have to pay him the same day, I can come back later in a week or so to pay him. When we got the chrome rims and the alloy rims we just had to come back in a week or so and pay him.

OK so it mostly depends on my luck hope fully I can get it all on the cheep

Yea the main yard i go to around here varies widely. The u-pull-it actually has a price list for just about everything, but the yard i go to has notta. Today i went to get a taillight for my mom's van, easily a $30 dollar part. The guy said just take it. You never know what ur gonna get there.
