Default Sparkplug wire tuning tip.

Hey all,

Thought I would pass on something that I feel improves the performance
of our cars.

I have used Mallory Pro-sidewinder wires on many of my performance
engines. I have used them with great results on Turbo Saabs, Turbo Volvo'*,
and many small and big block Chevy'* and Fords. Well even though I have
brand new AC Delco'* on my 97 SSEI, I thought hmmmm... wonder what
my Bonnie would run like with them ?

So, I went to a supplier I use on E-bay and ordered up a set of # 937
Mallory red Pro-sidewinder wires for Chevy 8mm big -block w/HEI male
towers. These wires are sold for $29.95 w/ $7.00 shipping. This price
is 60% of what you would pay at Summit or a speed shop.

When I received my wires, I took out and used the (3) longest, and the (3)
shortest wires. They fit like they were made for the 3800. These wires
feature less than 300 ohms p/ft and are heat resistant to 500 degrees.

Now I'm not one to claim that sparkplug wires will give any appreciable
gains if you are already in a good state of tune. BUT, in this case, the
wires made a difference, and it was noticable. I not only felt a difference
in the butt dyno, but also the way the car boosts.

As I said earlier in my post, I have used these many, many times with great
results. Only this time i used them on the my 3800 and they work well !
For $37.00 bucks, next time you need to get wired, give them a try.

Look at one of the pictures of Willwrens cars. I believe he either
had a set, or is using a set.

Maybe he will chime in with his own take on these wires.

My suppier is a wholesaler on E-bay that goes by the username -Chimptoast.

He has a big Wholesale business in NJ. If you go to E-bay and do a search
for Mallory spark plug wires, you'll find his listings. He is a power seller and has
over a thousand positive feedbacks. While you are there, visit his E-bay
store. He has many other auto parts as well.

Hope this helps.

The red wires generally are Taylor or MSD, I belive willwren is or WAS running red Taylors, first time i have heard Mallory mentioned on this site..
Personally, if you saw a gain from the new wires, it could be that there was a small issue with the other wires that were i there, even i they were new AC delcos. My MSD wires failed after 8000miles for instance, they should not have.
I run Belden Premium wires from Napa, they work great. I would stick with 8mm as well.

Matt,

The ACDelco wires may have not been up to snuff, but I had no issues with
them other than the fact I prefer Mallory.

I like the fact that they are 8mm as well. More insulation against heat.

If you get a chance, check out all of Willwrens pictures. I could swear he had
a set on one of his cars. Let me know if you find the picture.

Willwren has not run any Mallorys, to my knowledge. Those red ones were Taylors. But he has Beldins now, I believe.
