cooling fan question
Ok I have a question concering the the electric cooling fan on my car. Does the fan automatically kick on anytime the automatic climate control is set. I know it runs quite a bit in the summer but I was just wondering if it kicks on in the winter as long as the auto function on the climate control is set.

Not sure about the earlier generation, but on my car, they both come on low speed at a preset temp by the PCM. When I turn my climate control to Auto, they both come on High speed, regardless of outside temp.

On the 93, the high side pressure on the A/C must be above a certain level.
Here'* what happens in the 93:
The PCM monitors the coolant temperature. When the coolant temperature reaches 212 degrees, it switches on the fans to low speed. If the coolant temperature reaches 226 degrees, the fans operate at high speed.
Also, when the A/C high side reaches 210 psi, this causes the high speed fans to run. They should run for a few minutes. That may be slightly different for the R-134a systems.
