Need some info!
Hi everyone! Its been awhile since I've been on this forum after I sold my 92 SE. What I bought with that money was a Porsche 944. Well needless to say I miss my Bonneville and want to buy another one. This time I want to go supercharged to match the performance of my Porsche. Which year should I go for because I plan on selling the Porsche for around 4k. The only thing about it is I looked at Wilwren'* Bonny and ( sorry Wilwren) am not too terribly impressed for a SC Bonny. My stock 944NA matches his numbers for 0-60 and beats the 1/4. For a 2.5 4cyl that isnt too bad unless your looking at rice . Im hoping they made the Bonny more powerful over the years. Please let me know what I should look out for. Thank you!

If you're looking at the numbers in my sig, they're old
92-93 SSEi'* were 205hp stock,
94-95 SSEi'* were 225hp stock,
and 96-up were 240hp stock. But you need to remember with the SC, it'* not the hp, but the TORQUE that'll get you off the line.
I don't know what year 944 you have, but the numbers I have on the 944 NA are all basically EQUAL to a 92 SSEi Stock.
1992 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi 8.1 16.1
1982 Porsche 944 8.3 N/A
1984 Porsche 944 9.0 16.4
1986 Porsche 944 8.9 16.6
1988 Porsche 944 8.7 16.6
1988 Porsche 944 * 8.0 16.2
1989 Porsche 944 7.5 15.7
1989 Porsche 944 S2 6.6 14.9
1990 Porsche 944 S2 6.7 14.7
Considering I can't do another run due to the weather, I'll have to guess and say I've got that 1990 944S2 beat by now pretty easily. I should be in the mid 14'*. (the last times I ran were 14.7'* but I didn't fully trust the times, and conditions sucked).
No offense taken. But just remember, I haven't done anything to my car that required 'going under the covers'. Most of it was straight swap of bolt-on parts, and those times DON'T reflect the use of the water/alcohol injection.

Quite true my friend, quite true Anyway thanks for the numbers I'm going to try to find a 96 at least. Gotta have the HP!!! At any rate I can't wait to get rid of this German junk and get back to a good 'ol American automobile ! Thanks Wilwren for the info! The Bonneville was the most reliable car I've ever had the pleasure of driving. Even though my Porsche will last for 300,000 miles there isnt much compared to the joy of driving a Bonneville. Don't get me wrong, my Porsche can outhandle any car I've ever seen. Also, its probably one of the sexiest cars out there but I need room and decent sound and lots of power!

Try to squeeze into a 97 if you can swing it. It was the first year the 4T65E-HD was offered in the SSEi. You're gonna have to find a helluva deal, though.

Lol right again! Well Ill keep an eye out for a 97. Gonna have to check out Ebay often and look around to see if some person is desperate to get rid of their grocery-getter and own a sports car .

Brrt50cal,
Don't forget the elusive Supercharged SE. The three years they made them were 1995-1997. It will be a bit lighter than an SSEi-but it will also have fewer toys (no HUD for example). It will also be a bit cheaper, and much harder to find.
Good luck, and welcome back.

Wish I had known about those before I got my first Bonny Although I do like lots of toys I especialy like the perforance shift button and the HUD. Very cool andmakes it look a bit more classy. Only problem is the shifter right in between the pasenger and drivers seat :( Guess my girl and I are going to have to move into the back Anyway guys thanks for the info. Appreciate your help as always and I'll let you know how my search for the perfect Bonny goes and also how the departing of my German junk
