Default Did my first balancer today!

So we had a car in the shop, 1987 Delta 88. Had a P/* leak, which we fixed, and i delivered the car back to the customer. About 2 hours later she called saying the engine was making a knocking noise. FIRST thing that poped into my head was "balancer". I was expecting a really hard job, considering the one i did with my boss on his '92 Lesabre was a bitch. Well this one came off no problem, took out the inner panel and the bolt came right out with the impact, and i pulled it off with my hand. Luckily we have a spare 3.8 engine in the back of the shop, so i snagged the balancer off of that (which was in perfect shape, BTW) and put that on there. Worked like a charm! Only charged her $50 for the used balancer, whereas a new one was like $130. Just wanted to share my pride.

Yea there'* no bolt holes for a puller on the older style, just one bolt and a little elbow grease. I wish i could do those all day. That and those waterpumps. SO much easier without that damn motor mount in the way.

Yeah they are.... Man I wish they would have just used some dog bones in the front instead of those Torque axis mounts...LOL
No reason why they couldn't have... Maybe a retro fit is in the future.

My balancer was tough to get off. I used a huge closed end wrench which had a perfect dip in it, with exhaust pipe on the other end. I also had to use a puller to get it off the crankshaft.
