Default SC Idler pulley

Heard a bearing making a noise today then quited down drove home 50 miles and it wasn't making much of a noise. So after unloading groceries went back out and started it up it was making a heck of a noise so I turned around to pick up my broom handle (old timers way of finding a noise) and the noise quit, turned back toward the Bonny and it didn't have a belt or idler pulley anymore.

Went and bought a new idler pulley and new belt, it took longer to get the belt on the right direction than it did to replace the pulley.I'd look at the belt route I'd saved on the computer but by the time I got outside I couldn't remember which way it went. After 2 trys I finally made a little drawing on a post-it-note and didn't have a problem after that.

well atleast you lost the */c belt and not the other one that would have been a mess. i find it funny that we don't have a belt travel diagram under the hood on these things first cars or anything i have seen without one

At least it happened at home. Best way to remember the travel is, 3 pulleys are ribbed, and two are smooth. match that to the belt.

The first time I put it on I had about 1 foot of extra belt, I said this can't be right, tried it again and it was going to touch the water pump That ain't right, finally just drew a map! Atleast I had plenty of room to work I liked that!

I've done too many and can't forget the proper routing. I do enjoy watching a first timer go at it though.
