Default Help modding..hurry sunlight! (lot of help needed)

First, I finally got a new computer so now I can actually post and keep up with everybody.

But really, what'* with the crappy weather. Negative temps down here in Iowa everyday even. Can't wait for it to get nice again to finally get to work on the bonne now that I'm out of school and will be having some money soon. But the question is, what do I do first?

System: Already have complete system, thinking about hooking one of my new slim ps2'* up in a custom space with a monitor in the glove box. Also hoping to get a custom enclosure for my 2 12'*. Trying to find some 5 1/4 speakers for the fronts to complete the system. Have to go with the Sony Xplods to keep the same brand all the way around, and they're just too expensive for me right now.

Rims & Tires: Have chrome 18'* that will stay, they nice the problem is, I now only have three (3) of the wanli tires, and the other is a Bridgestone that is a different tread. Looking to get a couple hundred dollars saved up when summer gets here to get the other tire for conformity. Want to get some 20'*, but there just wouldn't be enough room I don't think. They fit, but a bump would suck badly. Maybe some 19'*.

Neons: Have (2) 36" and (2) 48" red underbody neons on the front, back, and sides underneath the car. Problem there is, some psycho decided to run me off the road one night and busted one of the 48" neons. So I'm thinking about buying a whole new kit {Anyone selling some for cheap? } and then replacing the the broken one and using the other three for something else [thinking one along the leather/floor separator under backseat, one under hood, and I'm not sure about the other one]. Also have a smaller 20" red neon in the open door of the back console to light up the pretty new Sony Xplod amp All interior lights converted to red bulbs already also [as you are thinking, it does suck because you can't really see a thing at night, looks cool though..] Wanting to find a way to convert the green compass, car shot, and climate control lights to the red/orange color of the rest of the guages.

Interior: Reconditioning all the leather. Thinking about replacing the grey carpret for silver or black carpeting. Need to fix the center console latch again. d'oh.Going to pay my girlfriend to hand-sew/stich some sort of steering wheel cover on, store boughten ones just fade in the summer sun right away. **What kind of fabric/leather/etc. should I use for this?** Have to go back to StereoWest to get a piece for my $100 red/aluminum automatic shift ****, ugh, so much money and I can't even use it right now. Need new floormats all around, took the ones I had out at the car wash one day, in a hurry and forgot 'em, went back and they only left one for some reason, d'oh again. Replacing all interior parts that are painted red with originals. Replacing main dash that'* painted silver with an aluminum custom dash from ExoticWoodDash.com, about $200. **Anywhere cheaper?** Original vents going back in to replace the custom red-painted vents with silver blades. Blades will be wrapped in aluminum-look vinyl. Buying new speaker covers for fronts and painting them silver, already did that to the others but 2 of 4 got busted from accidental kicks (kick panel, crazy). Rear 6x9'*, going to buy a new silver rear deck cover from JCWhitney then cover them with the sony speaker covers that I got with my 480w each 6x9'*. In the slot where the bose sound system emblem normally resides, I'm going to fiberglass a panel to mount the switches {which will be converted to red l.e.d. buttons} to the underbody and interior neons. New pedals to replace the ones I have now.

Exterior: Removing the red pinstriping and also the chrome pinstriping, and orbital buffing the entire car with professional products at the garage (I detail new GM cars and trucks), then hand wax and polish it too. Putting silver/chrome pinstriping back on in place of it. Tinting the windows darker, they're just not dark enough, going all the way black I think. Looking to get a banner for the front windshield, probably one that says either Pontiac or Bonneville, probably in silver/chrome or red. Buying a whole new set of blue fogs, headlights, and brights, clearing the corners, and getting blue bulbs for them also.

Braking/Suspension: Want to get disc brakes all the way around, expensive for not much of anything, but just something I want to do. **What brakes are the best/how much do you think it would cost?** Also, I want to lower the car. As said above, I'm thinking about getting 19'*, want 20'*, but just not enough room for comfort. **How much should I lower it?; What all do I have to buy?; What products are the best?** Calipers being painted red or silver/chrome. While I'm doing that, the wheel-wells are going to be deep-cleaned and then painted black.

Exhaust: I have dual exhaust, just sanded and polished normal tips for now. Want to get a new exhaust system, muffler, tips and all. Thinking Flowmaster 40 or 80 but not for sure, looking for help there also. **What all do I need to buy?; What products are best and how do each of them sound?; How much does it usually cost for everything you need + labor, if possible?**

Under Hood basic: Fresh oil change, use only a 90 octane fuel, and usually use octane booster which gives it a few more octane. No, there'* not really a need w/o a supercharger or turbocharger, but it can't hurt, right? All fluids being flushed and refilled.

Under Hood: Repainting bar chrome/silver. New belts (annoying squeaky *****). Want to get a chrome alternator. Need to get a CAI. **What products are best?; How much do they cost?; Easy to put in?** New spark plugs and wires (bought bosch platinum 4'* but it was said on here that platinums weren't good in the bonne). **What spark plugs are best?; Prices?; What spark plug wires are best?; Prices?** Want to get a remote starter for the bonne too. **What one is best?; How easily can different ones be installed?**

**Anything else that people think should be done?**
**What are other cheap things that can be done?**

Thanks a trill in advance for all the help that I'm hoping to receive here.

Yeah, it'll pry be a long drawn out project, but I'd like to have a few things done by summer hopefully. Esp. exhaust, it'll be one of the first things. The wires and plugs, and cai will be shortly after, then painting and buffing and all that, cosmetics and such, then we'll get going from there again.Had all the ideas running through my head figured I better post 'em while I could remember all at once.

Thanks,
Chris

I'll get some pics once I can charge the CyberShot.

If you're going for bling that'* cool, but if you have 18'* why spend over a grand on other wheels that only function worse? Same with the blue bulbs. They are actually worse for driving, and are asking to get pulled over. Lowering the car with 2" drop springs will be a good lowering, you can still drive it everyday, and it'* not expensive. New struts would be needed, so put aside 600 or so for that.

I would also tell you to avoid sony speakers as well.... There is MUCH better out there for any price, higher or lower. I'd rather have great stuff that'* cheaper then one brand.

Octane itself doesn't get you anything. It'* the rate of burn, and higher octane is good for stopping knock. Infact using the lowest possible octane without knock is where you'll get the most power, not the highest octane. Neither burn cleaner or anything. Get an O2 sensor on there, and maybe clean your TB as well. If you have a 95+ You'll be able to put an SC on cheap soon.

Chris Yeah You got a lot of work planed out but instead of jumping all over every thing at once you should just do 1 area at a time and get it done so that it is done right the 1st time, than you should work on the next area that u want to do and so on, other wise your car mite be all mix match and never really get done right also it'* easy to loose interest fast when it seems like nothings getting done even if your working your tail off , I don't want that to happen to you and hope to see you around here a long time
Im not raging on you so don't take it that way cause it seems like you got a lot of ambition, im just trying to point you in the right direction thats all, but thats just my .50 cent
Peace

Yeah, that'* where I'm at at this point. But now that I have spare time I can get it done once the weather is nice.

Yeah I'll probably be sticking with the 18'*. The blue bulbs give it a lot better look than the ugly as a 72-year old carton-a-day widow bulbs that are in there. Yeah I'd like to lower the car as soon as possible, but at that much money it'll probably be one of the last mods, already bottoming out anyway, not that much clearance.

I would also tell you to avoid sony speakers as well.... There is MUCH better out there for any price, higher or lower. I'd rather have great stuff that'* cheaper then one brand.
I'm going to go ahead and argue with you on this one. You may think that, but I don't think there'* a system within 100 miles of here that beats like mine. It'* got the perfect sound for me, and I don't feel like spending $500/sub or $2,000 on an amp that'* going to put out the exact same sound. I like all Sony products, esp. the Xplod car audio, and the colors and look of it match my car perfectly, making it look just that much better.

If you have a 95+ You'll be able to put an SC on cheap soon.
Cheap to you and cheap to me are probably 2 different things, how much?

I think the price for the upgrade to a blower is going to be around $1000 they said. Not cheap, but you'll be MUCH MUCH faster then stock.

Umm i was searching ClubGP this morning but i can't find it for the life of me. We discussed it some here. There it is.

http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=26572

And my comment on sony speakers is based off of lots of experience. Sony is a great electronics company, they have many great products. But Damn near any speaker i've heard from anyone who makes electronics, is rubbish. The only one i've been satisfied with (not over happy) was some old Harmon/Kardon Tens, which were made by paradigm anyways. Their car audio line is better then stock, but their materials aren't the best choices. Some of their sub shapes they've used aren't best for SQ either. It'* your choice, but i'd definetly check out stuff like JL, MB Quart, Focal etc.
