Brakes squealing
The brakes are sqeaking pretty bad on the wifes Astro Van (don't hate her, at least it'* GM!). The pads are fine, about 3/8 to damn near 1/2 inch left (rough guess) but when she stops they squeal like a bnshee. Anything I can do to shut 'em up?

What brand of brake pads did you replace it with. I once went with some generic brake pads and they squeeled like hell. Since then I have always bought OE pads and I have never had any probs. They do make this goop that you put on the back of pads to prevent squeeling. But once you take the old pads out you might as well replace them with new OE(Delco) pads.

If you feel up to taking the old pads out(no need to replace them), go to AutoZone or Checker, or whatever parts store you have and get some Disc Brake Quiet. It costs about 99 cents, and one package is enough for 8 pads.(I know you don't have 4 wheel disc, I'm just saying). It'* this blue goop you put on the backs of the pads and it stops squealing. Before every pad change I do I put it on and it works great.

I don't remember what brand the pads were. I did 'em over a year ago. But since they still look brand new (from the outside) I might just cheap out and go for the brake quiet goop. I'll know more for sure when I actually pull a front wheel. Thanks folks...
