Default Bad luck yesterday with L67-in-Black

Well, it all started on Thursday night when I installed the CAI in my 99 SSEi. It was dark out and was out on the street with no light other than a cheap flashlight (I still can't believe this car didn't come with a underhood light from the factory) so I had the headlights on with the car off. It only took me 20 minutes but i still had to jump start it.

Then Friday morning when I went to leave for work the battery was dead (I thought -read on). Got dad'* 1990 Olds 98 out for a jump. Got my my car started and took off. Got 2 blocks from home and it was like a total dark out. The motor died, the lights went out and I was sitting in the middle of the street (I had at least enough momentum to coast to the side). Popped open the hood and there'* the battery terminal about 4 inches from the battery. Damn-it!!!!!! F'in terminal broke away from the battery. So I borrowed dads 1989 Lesabre limited and got to work 1/2 hour late.

I got off of work at 11:30 to head down to Mankato, but i had to get the bad terminal off the battery connector. Tried using a vise-grips and wratchet to break them loose for 2 hours. Finally decided to cut the cable (should have done this after 10 minutes). Finally got that **** done around 3:30.

Got on I-94 East about 3:45 and about the time I got to Albany (25 miles later) I heard a BANG!!! ****, what the hell was that. About the time I heard that I noticed the rpms had jumped to 3000 rpm. I had the cruise set at 77 mph, so I turned that off the and the rpms did a free-fall down to 1000 rpm. I hit the gas and right back up to 3k. Crap, and this tranny was just rebuilt 7k ago. I pulled over and shut the car off and when I took off again the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts were like a sledge hammer -even feathering the pedal.

I turned around and headed back to Sauk Centre, but then everything pretty much came back to normal. The shifts were still a little brisk, but only slightly noticable and 4th (OD) had also come back. No slipping in any gear.

So then last night I took the car up to Alexandria and ran into a couple friends (19 & 20 and a combined weight of the 2 being about 325 lbs + me another 150) and they wanted to cruise around for some action in the SSEi (their mint 1988 Suburban with a 6" lift and 35" tires wasn't good enough for the chicks). We hadn't gotten three blocks and some fine honey'* pulled up next to us in a 1994/96 GTP. Started talking to them and they asked if we wanted to race. I din't really want to, but the prize if we won was too good to lose out on (milk-shakes -hell ya!!!) So we pull up to a light heading out by DQ south and wait for the green. I power-braked to get some boost built for the launch with the TC on (not a very bright thing to do come to think of it now -******* timing retard). Right off the line they had us, but I started to pull on them about the time I hit 2nd (no traction anywhere in first). We finally caught up around 55-60 and started to pull ahead, but then we were coming up on a car in their lane so we let off the gas at 75 (at which point I had about 1 car length). Immediately after I let off the gas the Check Engine light came on. MF!!!! I know I kind of deserved it, but after having the battery terminal, the tranny issue, and having to skip out on Mankato, this really pissed me off. Then to top it all off the chicks boosted when I was in getting a room at the Holiday in (luckily I was still filling out the paper work when I saw taillights making a quick exit. Oh, well, it coulda been worse, so hopefully things go better today. I know one thing is that my ex will have to stop bugging me after today -she'* getting married today -hooray (and I really mean it).

Oh, and also when I hit 2nd gear in the race I noticed the boost guage was damn near pegged (11 + psi).

Ok, now so if anyone in central MN has a scanner who'd mind me coming to them and having them run the codes?

Ok. Vent off. Sorry for the wasted band-width.

This is why from now on I avoid cars ads that say new or rebuilt tranny. I learned my lesson with the Dodge Dynasty. The ad said new transmission, and knowing about Chryslers and trannies I thought I would be getting a good deal. Yea well it slipped from the time it got home till it failed a month later. There is only one person I trust rebuilding a tranny and if it does'nt come from him, FORGET IT!!!!

You were in Albany, and didn't come by?

And your ex won't stop bugging you cuz she got married. Trust me. Her and her new husband will feed off making you miserable.

Well, with all the salt that was on the road it did have a kind of white haze over it.

Will, I'd have gladly stopped by your place to help throw back a few, but from my side of Albany to yours it'* a good 1500 miles -sure is a big city.

Back on topic, I called up the shop that rebuilt the trans in July and they said they'd come up with a flatbed in the morning and haul it in and go check it over. Hopefully it'll be ready by next week. :?
I'll keep you all up-to-date on this.
Oh, and to top it off now Ol' Blue refuses to even turn over with a fully charged battery -must be mad at me. I'm gonna have to give the starter a good love-tap with a metal bar as this morning when I hit the key it started turning over and then it just "clicked" and won't turn over any more even rocking the car back and forth in park.
