Default ethanol gas?

In this part of the country you have 2 choices, run 91 octane from Chevron or shell station, or 90 ocatne premium at other places.

or there is a stinker station that carries 93 octane but it is 10% ethanol, would I see less KR with 93 with 10% ethanol, or 91 regular gas. I am a newbie to corn so I am not sure how it reacts with these motors.

Oooo, I was just about to ask this question. Theres a place here that sells all grades of fuel at the SAME price on Thrusdays. All of thier gas is 10% ethanol blended. Can I put 10% ethanol @ 92 octane in my SSEi? Will it hurt performance? It'* the difference between me paying $1.17 a litre and $1.06 a litre here...

Should be OK. You will need to know anyway. MTBE is the standard oxygenate additive used but it is being phased out and replaced with ethenol.

Most gas in North America has one or both to some extent to reduce emissions.

Use it, Hans. We've been using it in Iowa for years with fuel systems that are older than your car, and we've never had trouble. Just don't ever fill up with a high percentage blend of Ethanol like E85. E10 is fine for your motor, however. If you've got a little KR, 93 octane will help you kill it regardless whether it'* an E10 blend or straight-up gasoline.

Plus, you'll be helping the US corn industry and lessening our dependence on foreign oil by a fraction of a fraction

Here in MN all our gas has ethanol in it, 10% to exact.
In fact the Gov. is pushing for all gas to be E-20(20% ethanol).http://www.governor.state.mn.us/Tpaw...asp?artid=1120

I run 93 with 10% ethanol as well. I haven't found a station without 10% ethanol here, I'm sure it is state-wide too. I still can manage 28 mpg being easy on the peddle. 25 mpg otherwise.
