I was wondering, Does anybody else out there with and 00+ SLE tires break lose starting from a stopped position. I was wondering why i cant get my tires to break lose and just wondered if this is common or does my car just suck.... and maybe if theres some things i should check to make sure my engine is in its best condition... thanks

If traction control is on, turn it off, then you can break loose. Any reason why you wanna break loose?

Tony...you have an 00 NA motor.

About the most you can expect is to squeak them from a stop with those tall gears. However..once you are rolling the car will take off very well.

he should be able to squeek em a bit with the 3.05s, if he had an SE with 2.84s like me, it would be much harder

Also depends on road conditions and engine conditions.

x2 on the road and engine conditions. My 00 SLE will only spin on crisp air mornings and on the ocasional smootheer paved roads. But hey a 4500+ lbs car with a 0-60 of 8-8.5 sec is no slouch really. That and you are drive a Pontiac and a Bonneville at that. But I understand what you are talking about, fully.

Mine could never do it until I swapped the cam and heads. Now it won't "roast" the tires, but gives a good little squeal if I punch if off the line. Could also have something to do with the composition of your tires. I've always thought mine doesn't squeal them much because my tranny is sloppy, but I don't know if that'* possible.
