Buick and China, wow..
It is sad to hear it is possible most Buick'* may no longer be produced in North America...
They already have production in Korea, and the Regal is going to be made in Europe along with the upcoming Casada, they say the Casada may end up being made in China as well....

It does not bother me that they want to sell the Buick brand overseas, because if they like the cars we design here, and they want them cheaper overseas, then fine build a plant and have them built, but of course the GM company profits, which should help the company with overall profits, which in the end should hopefully help keep American factors going strong, and employing workers.
To outsource all of the building of certain product lines is bullshit, which I may be wrong, but that is what it sounds like they are going to do.

I see your point. I disagree though, that a company over here makes profits on cheap labor and expects to sell their product to U.*. Imho We bailed them out with our tax dollars. The least they can do is give the American workforce a job and make a quality built vehicle with American materials. Quality has gone out the window with cheap parts and crappy workmanship.

I do not like that part either, I was not saying I support them wanting to make it cheaper over there, employ them, then send it back to us as an import, I was just saying if they want our brand over there so they can enjoy the brand, then fine.
I don't like the idea of getting cheaper labor, and parts from them being built there, then having them shipped back and sold to us...

The sad truth is the main reason Buick even still exists is because of the brand'* popularity in China. The government wanted GM to drop every brand except Chevy, GMC and Cadillac, but GM made the case to keep Buick, based on its popularity in China, even though Pontiac was outselling Buick domestically at the time. Ironically, a lot of the Buicks made and sold in the Chinese market are entirely different models from those offered domestically. For better or worse, it stands to reason that eventually they would consolidate the line and bring the most popular (i.e., Chinese) Buicks stateside. Besides, one of the things GM is trying to do with Buick domestically is to make the brand appeal to import buyers, so what better way to appeal to import buyers than offer them Buicks that are actually imports?
