Default Scanner question

I have a 95 Bonneville SE, SLE. It'* running rough, check engine light is on. I went to a local parts store and rented a scan tool, OBD2...I think though, that this is the wrong scanner because I cannot get it to link up.

What scanner do I need?

You need an OBD1 scanner with an OBD2 compatible cable.

If you were "Up Nort" I could help you out. Go back and let them know you need a "GM Specific" scanner. That'* what the scanner companies seem to call the hybrid ones

I broke down and bought an actron super scanner...I pulled the codes and there were four: Two misfire codes, 300, and two prom errors, 623.

What now?

Yeah, I don't find P0623 anywhere, even with the online service that came with the scanner. Anyhow, the 300 code is basically worthless...I KNOW the car is missing. Sheesh.

I've checked vac lines and electrical connections...no dice. I just went out to see if I had spark at all of the cylinders, but it'* now running perfect...So now I can't even trouble shoot this stupid thing the old fashioned way.

I hate cars sometimes.

EDIT: My frustration about the misfire code isn't with you telling me what the code said, but with the vague information from teh code.
