Default New Torque Convertor Installed.

Had my INTENSE TCC-300 installed today. Big Jeff and I pulled the engine from good ole' 8Ball because I also had an oil leak from the oil pan gasket that occured when we did the cam shaft install. Good thing we dropped the pan and the removed the timing chain cover (I also hooked my balance shaft back up to get rid of my 1500 rpm vibration) as apparantly the timing chain tensioner had exploded and was sitting in the bottom of the oil pan. Car is smooth as butter now that the balance shaft is reconnected and the TCC-300 has really woken up the car on hard acceleration. Not much change at all from normal street driving but slam the gas and wow....

While we were at it we also installed some dynomat on the trans and front knock sensor to try to alleviate any false knock that may have been ocurring. I have yet to scan it but will get some numbers in the next week.

Here are some pics from the day.

Good pics.
Interesting to see. Wondered when you where going to reinstall that balance shaft. Good move.

Any idea why your tensioner exploded? Not compatible with the new chain?

How long did the total job take?

According to Scott and Jeff, this is very common in our engines with stronger vavle springs. However usually using the rollmaster timing chain alleviates this (which is why we put it in when we did the cam). Not sure why this one exploded, it may have just been defective.

Total job was about 7 hours.

Figures. Mods are usually a compromise in reliability. :?

This engine is not as bullet proof as I was led to believe. Maybe it is if you don't mod it or if NA but between all these issues and the weak trani....

I'm not planning to pull the engine for a long time, so this is all the proof I need to stop further modding and start saving for a ............Mercedes geared HEMI ???!!!!!

I think thats true for almost any engine. You can get the timing chain cover off without pulling the engine so it may not be as bad as it seems.

TC was about 400, misc stuff including gaskets, fluids, tensioner and dynomat were about another 100. Labor was calculated at about 600.00.
