1992 may have some leftover "bugs" since it is a first-year model. Plus it has the old-style rockers, no roller pivots. Also the lowest available horsepower.

1993 still has the solid rocker pivots, but a bit better programming IMS. Last year for self-diagnostics on the climate control.

94-95 has a better */c but to take full advantage you would need to use the LIM from 92-93 and the puley from 92-93. But has bastardised OBD.

I would say anything but the 92. 93'* respond well to modding, 94-95'* benefitted from the past several years mistakes. Wilwren should know a great deal about any other diffs that I did not mention.

93 was also the last year for self-diagnosis of PCM codes, not just ECC. You don't need a scantool to extract codes from either computer.

94/95 have higher rated hp and tq, but are more difficult to deal with when the codes need to be read. The best you can do is drop the money on a scantool at the same time you buy the car.

You can't tell the difference between 92-95 SSEi'* from the outside or inside other than wheels sometimes, and the CCR buttons for the electonic (troublesome) suspension on the 94/95'*.

Note that the 92/93 ECC'* don't give you control of where the air comes from. 94/95 do.

Don't be too afraid of a 92. The only difference that I see as a problem is the original fuel strainer. But that rarely seems to be a problem enough to come up much anymore. There is a good chance it has been replaced by now, or just keep your tank above 1/3, that'* what I did till I got a new pump and strainer.

All features are standard unless optioned out from a factory-ordered car. ALL options are STANDARD. And remember, they only made about 5000 or FEWER SSEi'* each year of production.

Just to add to this, Don and I saw an SSE at the Orlando yard that had...NO sunroof, NO traction control, and NO AL7'*

only differences between a 93 and a 94-95 that were major was the CCR

there are little things like the 95'* compass is auto calibrating
the 95 has the better HVAC.....BUT the 92-93'* can upgrade
the 92-94 have windshield washers the 95 didnt
and there were different wheel choices between the years

if it was me i would shoot for the 93
