Default High mileage oil?

I see that Penzoil is coming out with a special "High Mileage" oil for cars with over 75k on them. Anyone have any thoughts?

I've used oil in my high mileage cars forever. Standard oil or Mobil 1. Never had a problem so far.

And at a time where most vehicles last over 75K, where do they get the opinion it'* high mileage? Usually that'* just broken in.

That'* exactly what it is. Changing the oil at recommended service intervals is the best thing you can do.

Me thinks that the high mileage oil is targeted to those people that don't change their oil regularly. Helps reduce guilt!

when I had my 82 cutlass (and you'd better believe it got changes as required), I used maxlife in it - and it made a noticeable difference. I had some pretty worn rings and shot valve seals, and when I started using the maxlife, it really did restore some of it'* kick.

so I guess it depends on if your car is in good condition or not. newer cars (to me, that'* anything built after 1989 ) might not have the wear and tear to really make a big difference. if you've been taking care of your car, you'll probably be just as good with any other oil (though I highly recommend mobil1).

or amsoil, 25k changes baby (tho i personally would never do that, but amsoil is proven to go to those intervals and more in cars, i just dont trust MY cars and the way I drive for a oil to last 25k, synthetic or not. oh and i never run regular oils in my cars.... synthetic all the way baby, just a quick fyi)

I guess since I'm close to the 100K mark, it is considered 'high milage'. It has used syntheic oil since the car existed, and it works great.

I use Mobil 1 everytime.

I've been warned by friends not to switch to synthetic in you're over 50 to 75k.
