most members plan on going out to the festivls or family reunions this summer. I know gas is very high. My grandfather told me a long time ago anytime we go out he puts 87 octane in the tank. Reason being, the gas is going right back out. Doesnt make sense to put 93 in theere and you ar constantly moving. I figure to save a little money why dont ppl take this on consideration. Then on your last fill up close to your house once on half or a 1/4 tank, put your regular dosage in the tank. I wouldnt think this would hurt suprchargers either.

Remember that the relative difference between premium and regular gas is much lower now that gas prices are so high... Instead of a 10-20% difference, you now only have a 5-10% difference.

And as your octane goes down, your fuel mileage will too. Your timing will be retarded to prevent knock caused by the lower octane, resulting in decreased efficiency and performance. You'll burn more 87 than you would have 91 or higher. It'* a wash, and knock and detonation will harm your engine.

Don't do it.

On supercharged cars of course. NA'* feel free to use 87.

Can SC models use 87 octane, then add a bottle of octane boost to it?

I thought I added that in there. darn. Would that be a good suppliment for the 87 to add octane boost while traveling in a L67?

I don't think so... not the store stuff you buy anyways.... it doesn't boost the octane high enough to 91.

PS-I run 91 in both car.... I know I don't "need" to in the 91, but that'* all that has ever been run in it. She'* never seen anything below octabe 91.

You'd need more than a bottle of boost. Each octane boost container advertised to raise the octane "one point" means from 87.0 to 87.1.

That'* alot of bottles to get to 91 minimum. Toluene would be a better choice, but it'* more expensive to mix your own than to just buy 91 to begin with.

Agreed, torco from zzperformance is also good enough to get about 10 octane more than what you put in (ie 94 becomes 104).
