HELP! the wife wants a minivan.
 

HELP bonny fans! My wife wants a minivan and she keeps mentioning trading the bonny and her malibu for a chrysler town & country. i'm going to korea in january so her argument is that i don't need a car for a year. i've tried to explain to her that owning a bonneville isn't just about a way to go but a way to express my meaning of life. hinse the saying luxury with attitude. It's gotten to the point that i 've hidden the car keys and the fuel pump fuse in a secret place when i go on my weekly trips out of town. I finally found a car that meets my needs and she wants to get rid of it now. sorry had too have somewhere to vent at. but really i need more good reasons to keep it that would be acceptable to a woman, all of us men have to right reasons as far as i'm concerned.

Seriously, a good arguement is that since your Bonne is a 2000, you'd have to tack what you owe on it to what you would end up owing on the new MommyVan. Economically, it makes just as much sense to keep the Bonne and get the van for her. It might work...

On a side note, where in Korea? Do you know yet? I spent a year at Camp Carroll (Waegwan) from Sept 87-88. Korea was a blast!

You may not need a car for a year, but when you get back you'll need one. So the only reason she can have to trade in the bonneville now is if she's going to get you a brand new one when you return :D

IMO the Bonneville IS a family car. It's not a compact 2 door car. It's a large, 4 door sedan. Yes, it is a little harder getting kids in and out of the back seat. A minivan is a definate sign you need help.. get an SUV ;)

Make her trade just the Malibu in for a van. If thats not possible than it's not possible to get van.
Town & Country's not a bad choice, too bad it's a Chrysler though. :shake:

actually..not to be devil's advocate..i've driven my moms Chevy Montana Van..2000..and she will spin'em good...lol..

tached that beeeyatch out..at 6200 RPMs...lol

my brother was learning to drive,and he saw someone to a rolll back on TV, he askes "mom,can i drive to the store for a sec with you?" mom says "sure,drive down the driveway (mile long) and get the mail"

next thing i see and hear is him running into the van,pulls out of the garage at about 10 mph,pops'er into D and floors it!....i heard rubber burning for about 3-4 seconds..and not some chirping..SOME SERIOUS ROASTING,i look out and i see 2 HUGE strips about 40-50 feet long each...from the van!!!...

needless to say the van needed a rebuilding a month later,after it woulndt shift from 2nd to 3rd...lol

If you have to settle with a van I would personally shoot for a Chevy. I've driven them and rode in the backseat and liked them (for a van :roll: ).

However you shouldn't have to get a van. Your Bonnie is already a perfect family car with a lot of room and comfort. Make that a basis for an argument. But if it comes down to it get a SUV over a van...and I HATE SUV's. :evil:

town and countrys are impossible to work on! my parents have one and my dad hates working on it. i do like the interior however.

The Toyota Sienna will move pretty nice too, 240hp from the Honda (it may be more now that the new model *just* came out), 230 from the Toyota (I've seen 0-60 in 7.7 seconds somewhere... tackling an NA 3800 S-II, anyone?). The Japanese offerings (both built in North America) are the best in the business, though there *is* the price premium (I say it's worth it, ESPECIALLY on resale). Boring "appliances", but hey, if you want a minivan, you aren't looking for flair. :lol:
