Default The Meet In TO today

Well I am just going to post about the meet i went to in TO today. I thought it was for 3800 series cars (like GP, Bonnie, Monte Carlos, etc, etc) but it was predominently Grand Prixs. IE: I had the only Bonneville there.
So i spend all morning cleaning my car and stuff then when theywere going to judge they said "sorry no bonnevilles, just grand prixs" which kinda sucked but it was fun, some guys had some really neat stuff done to their cars.
The only bad part of the day was when I over heard these people talking about what cars showed up and one guy asked what kinds, and the other answered "such and such grand prixs, lumina, monte carlos, and THAT bonneville" and like 3 french guys in a group started to EXPLODE laughing, though I am not quite sure what was so funny about "that bonneville. I spent all morning cleaning it and i am sure it was the cleanest one there!! it had like a million coats of wet wax on it to keep all dust off! lol

but anyway, that'* that :o

They were probably laughing due to the stigma of the Bonneville as an old-man'* car.

That, or somehow the discussion turned into a Zaino vs. Carnauba debate!

Prove 'em all wrong!

They just don't realize what you got, that'* all. As you picture states:

"Yea, I KNOW your car is fast, I was hauling *** to pass you!"

We just need to get them on the track and school them!!!

You are probably right. It seems like they think of it as a tank, but the Luminas (some were 4 drs) are just about as heavy, and they seemed to think of them as really fast. Unfortunately my car is pretty much stock and not that quick :?
but it was pretty funny when one guy seemed to not belive me that my car was totally stock and running in the 15'*. WTF? I guess with the stereotype some people must think of them as like 18-20 second cars

I was at a W-Body gathering in Wichita two weeks ago. Lots of Lumina Z34'* there, along with a Grand Prix and Monte Carlo or two. They were all good guys. None of them did any Bonneville hating when I told them what I drove (I rode down in my friend'* GTP). I guess it must have been the circumstances.

I think that the Lumina Z34s run high 15'* to low 16'* stock, with a 3.4 L N/A motor. I think the best Z34 I saw at the track ran either a 15.1 or a 14.9 - I can't remember.

In any case, you should challenge a Z34 to a grudge match

I think your problem was probably because they were 3800 Grand Prix guys. A lot of them in my opinion are quite frankly arrogant. Its funny that once in a while i will go talk to them and they start showing off their engine, saying i did this and this and this. I then ask them about a simple car question that any person into cars should know, and they just look at me dumbfounded. I can only smile.

If you don't believe me on this wander on over to clubgp.com. There are people that are planning this long list of mods, but have to ask where to put the oil in at. Honestly, I have seen someone ask this before. And if you can ever read past flame war after flame war, there is a little info here and there.

And btw, in wichita, the Z34 guy ran a 14.94@94 mph. I ran a 15.6 or something like that. I hope you decide to come again next year Teuobk. Hopefully I'll have a nice T3 turbo under the hood by then

Brian'* right! I use to belong to that group too! I got sick & tired of being ignored because I OWNED A BONNEVILLE! Most guys at that site can't fix their own cars if their life depended on it! They just pay someone to do the mods for them! In my opinion that takes ALL THE FUN out of doing the mods! At least the people here ARE REAL! I've the Bonneville Intensity Group now for about 1 year! I've seen flame wars & I personally will not put up with them! How can a group grow realistically if let everyone go postal all the time! I know I might be a little strict at times, but get real life is tough & calls for tough love at times!
