Headlight Explosion?!?
The other night we were out driving around looking for our first house (gasps at prices) and all of a sudden it sounded like we were shot at! All the lights in the car when dim and then came back to normal. Anyways it took me a while to even figure out what it was. But when we came up behind a truck i noticed that one of the head lights was out. Took a look at it the next morning and found that the bulb had literally exploded!! Theres glass all inside the plastic lens and it also 'burnt' the plastic around it. Has anyone ever heard of this happening?? Any suggestions on bulbs to replace them with?

That can happen if someone touches the bulb. The oil from your finger causes the bulb to explode when it gets hot.

Something you must take great caution when you install new headlights is, do not touch the bulb glass to anything at all, only handle the lights by the plastic bottom housing!

thanx for the suggestions. These were original (since i bought the car @ 30,000 miles (now 60,000)) headlights. I've never replaced them. I did order some XD5 Xeon's Super Brights....any opinions? Should be getting them in end of the week will let you know how they work.

Yup, touching the glass bulb probably caused it, or maybe you have some condensation/ water in the headlight that got on the bulb. Hope you like your new bulbs better.
